Art as a Resource in Clinical Trauma Treatment: Continuing Ed for MSW, LMHC and Psychologists

This course will discuss the clinical and ethical uses of art in trauma treatment.  It is intended for any clinician interesting in learning about art media and art products as a nonverbal approach in trauma therapy.  Any clinician comfortable using art as a treatment approach will additionally benefit from the trauma framework.

  1. The psychobiological underpinnings of trauma symptoms and coping strategies
  2. The importance of creating a safe, holding therapeutic space to support trauma therapy
  3. Theory, considerations and applications in using art media in trauma treatment
  4. Concrete case examples of art in trauma treatment
  5. An art experiential for participants to immerse themselves in art media exploration
